oh, this ole thing

image via

I just needed to pop in and let the people know, I will be back.  I have had a lot of thought about this ole blog as I said goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013.  But, I am still sort of processing them and trying to decide how to execute those ideas.  I will tell you one thing, this blog started because of my love for design, and to hopefully one day own a interior design boutique (and services) here in Charleston.  Well, life is real, which means a season came that is new for me and I started just blogging to put something up everyday and really moving away from the point of it all...not what I had in mind, at all.  So, I am continuing to take some time to refocus things.  There will be days of just design inspiration, current projects, decorating ideas, favorites, etc.

Until then, spend time this morning checking out a little peek into one of Charleston's great stores!

santa baby...

wishlist (keyword: wish)

one: I have been dropping quite a few, no so subtle, hints to my hubby for my very own Lulie piece
two: I am not sure where this leopard lumbar would go yet, either the couch or guest bed. It is so classic it could go anywhere and will stay in our collection forever!
three: I have been on the hunt for a great anorak, this my friends is it.
four: I have slowly been trying to replace some of our throw blankets, this greek key is fabulous!
five: I love the funkyness of this belt, and the colors.  I might go pick it up today!!
six: These Loren Hope studs would be great everyday'ers
seven: I would love to add this bracelet to my collection
eight: I love a good coffee table book, this one is great
nine: I want this little number for in between our red chairs, it is a small space so this will be a perfect fit. Then one day it can be used in a bathroom.
ten: I love the Lo and Sons OG bag in army green.  So many uses!
eleven: gimme... I love this rug, and about 1,345 others on the site!

... ok and while we are wishing, I am so in love with these booties.
I am going to hunt them down on Ebay....

gift guide 2012: for her

There are a lot of gift guides floating around these days.  But, I am just going to keep on doing my thing.  I love putting them together, so I will continue to do so and hope you get some fresh ideas!

one: I seriously wear my chambray shirt with everything.  I think it is a perfect gift for just about any "she" in your life.
two: who doesn't love Gwyneth Paltrow?  Her cook book is bound to be wonderful.
three: basic heels from madewell.  They will not disappoint.  And trust me shoes are always a good idea!
four: these bracelet is perfect by itself or in addition to an already existing collection!
five: The diptyque Baies candle is my favorite.  A ideal gift for that hard to buy woman.
six: I am sure you have seen these pj's floating around the web.  But, dont miss out.  Get a pair for yourself while you are at it!
seven: Probably one of my favorite items on the list.  The picture does not even begin to do these scarves justice.  Just trust me.  I wear mine as a wrap for dressier occasions, or as a scarf with casual tops.
eight: These earrings are the perfect combination of simple every day with a bit of pizazz!
nine: This clutch is a great pattern that will go with anything.
ten: Ok, so y'all all know how much I love Lulie Wallace's art.  This Christmas she is offering a couple prints that benefit non-profits that are near and dear to her and her husband, Harrison.  All three are great.  I have been involved with Young Life for most of my life.  Some of my best years were spent driving a parasail boat for a camp in Upstate, New York.  Now, here in Charleston with my sweet husband we are grateful to be involved together with such a great organization.  Go buy a print and support one of these great non-profits!
eleven: I think this is one of my all time favorite JCrew prints.  It would look great with chambray and booties, a solid blouse and leopard heels and I love the way it styled on the website with plaid.  Make a lady feel fancy, we all love that right?!

DIY: a christmas tree skirt

This was a really fun and easy project! I have been wanting to make my own tree skirt for a couple Christmases now.  So, I scoured the internet for some cheap fabric and a couple tutorials to get me started.   Let me just go ahead and apologize for the bad pictures.  I was not planning on blogging this, but I got such a great response on Instagram (@beccsjones) that I decided to snap some iphone pics as I went.  I still plan on backing mine with a tartan plaid for another more festive option.  I have not chosen that fabric yet, but wanted to go ahead and get this to y'all! Fabric is here, and trim is here. Have fun!

12. Sew on your trim.  Sewing in a circle is tough, but the skirt will be around the tree so mistakes are hidden well.
13. Repeat steps 1-10 with whatever fabric you want to use on the reverse.
14.  Line up your circles pattern facing in
15. Sew them together keeping it close to the edge of your pom pom trim.
16. Sew the two pieces together at center circle, and down one side of the opening
17.  Flip right side out
18. Sew final opening, folding the two raw edges in for a finished hem

note: if you would like to add ribbion to tie and to keep slit closed do that before sewing those two pieces together.

Yikes, I need some photography lessons.

And, we don't have a tree topper. I haven't found one I liked.
Help, where did you find yours?
