three ways

So, last fall I pulled out the sewing machine and attempted to make my first clothing item.
This maxi skirt turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.
It is super comfy, I was able to make it the perfect size (they are almost always too long)
and I found a great, heavy, black jersey to use, giving it a great quality!
(I used this as my tutorial, I enjoy the folded top because I can wear flats or wedges)

But, in being honest, I sometimes have a hard time styling it.
I am chalking it up to me being short, it takes the perfect top to make it work.
Here is what I have come up with--

I can make one and two happen in my own closet.
Number three is about to be a reality thanks to Kristin's heads up today
on Anthro goodness.  I almost pulled the trigger yesterday but her review sealed the deal.

Do you have other ideas of how to style a basic black maxi?
Send them my way by Friday, March 30th
and I'll be sure to show them off (lowlifecouture at gmail dot com)

  1. I love this post! I just bought a black maxi a couple of weeks ago and I wore it for the first time yesterday. i had it paired with a white tee, a black, pink, green, and gold sash, and then Jack Rogers! I hope you had a good week and are enjoying your weekend!
