here comes April's showers...

Can you believe it is practically April?
Oh my goodness it is flying by. 
I have two days to convince myself to embrace the rain.

We can get some serious showers here in the Lowcountry. 
And, typically my go to rain getup is the first option.
But, every so often you just want to feel a little fancy, those days I throw on option two. (Although, I also have a head-to-toe gortex rain suit if need be,
thanks to my Saranac parasailing days.)

I also should look into investing into a new doormat, umbrella holder and boot tray!
Now, solving a muddy wet puppy is a whole other problem...

chairs, chairs, chairs

So, things are coming together around here. I love our sweet home. 
I am grateful for this space that we have and get to share together as newlyweds!

When we make decisions around here we try hard to make decisions that can move with us one day. 
That way we aren't spending time and money on things that won't translate into our next space. 
So, one of the next steps is some chairs for our kitchen table. 
We don't currently have a dining room, so our kitchen table will one day be our dining room table, 
and I would like a (maybe) round table that fits six snuggly. 
I would really love Craig to build it out of old barn wood. 

But, until then I would like some chairs for our current table in our sweet kitchen. 
My vote was for a version of Eames' Chairs (husband not so much).  
Since he has to sit in them every day too I decided this would be a good thing to compromise on. 

So, here are some finds:

I would love this style in a medium to light wood option too,
 then maybe I would flip it and do a white table. Can anyone help?

I did it...

Chopped a lot of hair off the front of my head!
Still adjusting to the new look, and deciding whether they are here to stay or just a trial run.
But, I do know this, my girl Janie is a miracle worker (and dang good friend!)

if the shoe fits...

A little secret about me, when it comes to shopping it is hard for me to buy shoes. 
I attribute this to a couple reasons.
a. I am really hard on my shoes
b. I typically will choose comfort, first. 
c. I would rather spend the money on clothing or home decor

 before unpacking anything else!

I always tell clients and friends that it takes time to build your collection, don't feel rushed.
Just keep your eyes peeled when you are out and about.

a few from insta...

I enjoyed posting a little weekend update via Instagram last Monday. 
I figured I would do it again!

1: We have jumped on the Friday Night Lights bandwagon and loving it!
2: Our wedding cake from Village Bakery in Mt Pleasant, it is our fave! Best part about it is I can pick up a piece at any of their amazing restaurants (Mustard Seed, Blvd Diner, Sette etc.)
3: I have done some bookshelf re-decorating including some hot pink abstract and a pharaoh bust from my parents
4: road trip to Greenville with my buddy Hank and man squeeze for a wedding
5: Nothing like picking up some solid t-shirts for spring/summer, Forever 21 has some great ones!
6: A weekend in Greenville meant seeing our best friends and their dog scout, he is big to say the least
7: My love for malachite got the best of me, I framed this little goodness until I work on my lamp project
8: Lots of sewing in my future--a box cushion with the dog fabric, pillows with the dots and a hot pink maxi skirt!

a new do

the classic pippi longstocking for halloween

So, funny story when I was younger I had bangs. And I mean BANGS!
They started on top of my head and were nice and thick (sorry mom, you tried, and I love you).
Well, one day I decided I didn't want bangs anymore so I gelled them back. 
I am sure it looked great with my long flowy (not gelled) hair.
I hopped in the car headed to ballet class and my oldest brother looked at me and said,
"You have a really large forehead, never grow your bangs out."
Love you too, Elliott.  No really I do, I have the best brothers. 
We love to laugh about this now, especially since I wore bangs til the 10th grade. 
I guess I take his opinion seriously! 

Well, all that to say I am dying to have bangs again.
I know I know a little late on the bang bandwagon, but I don't care.
Lucky for me one of my best friends is an amazing hair stylist, Janie at Salon Couture. 
I have been telling her I am ready have bangs for months now, but keep chickening out. 
But, next week, it is happening.

three ways

So, last fall I pulled out the sewing machine and attempted to make my first clothing item.
This maxi skirt turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.
It is super comfy, I was able to make it the perfect size (they are almost always too long)
and I found a great, heavy, black jersey to use, giving it a great quality!
(I used this as my tutorial, I enjoy the folded top because I can wear flats or wedges)

But, in being honest, I sometimes have a hard time styling it.
I am chalking it up to me being short, it takes the perfect top to make it work.
Here is what I have come up with--

I can make one and two happen in my own closet.  
Number three is about to be a reality thanks to Kristin's heads up today 
on Anthro goodness.  I almost pulled the trigger yesterday but her review sealed the deal.

Oh man, I was ready for spring. 
I love the freshness, the sudden urge to deep clean my house. 
The bright, light clothes that occupy my closet.
Here are a few goodies that have me feeling spring:

jaws jewels

Summertime is just about here.  (We often skip Spring in the Lowcountry)
And, call me crazy but one of my must have accessories this year is a stylish shark tooth necklace.
(Talk about bringing me back to my childhood,
we all had a shark tooth on a leather necklace with some beading!)

I love the dainty white and gold ones and think they would look great layered with a monogram.

Something green

Well, St. Patrick's Day is almost among us. 
Even writing this sort of makes me laugh because my best friend 
and I used to always say how much we hate this holiday. 
I won't get into the details.  But, we just never liked it. Don't judge!

Remember yesterday when I left you with the image and thought of that amazing malachite lamp. Well, I told you I was going to be dreaming of it, and dreaming I did.  I just know it will be the perfect
