a date weekend!

I love a good date night with my husband.
Seriously, I am amazed everyday at how great he is for me.
And, so grateful that I get to be his wife.

This week's Friday's Fancies was to come up
with our dream date night outfit.
Well, this weekend I am off for a
girl's weekend with some of my dearest friends.
Remember this trip to go get Christmas trees?
Well, this time its just us girls (and no christmas trees)!
I am so blessed to do life with these girls,
they are seriously one of the biggest blessings in my life!

So, no date night for me this weekend.
But, in a couple weeks we head off for
a weekend away in Beaufort to celebrate our anniversary!
So, I did some pre-packing for our date weekend!

make art

So, admittedly I am one of those that thought some of these abstract art pieces
that you see in home tours or floating around pinterest couldn't be that hard.
(I know that is terrible since I have three artists in my family!)
So, whipped out a canvas and went to town.
And let me tell you it is hard.

Mine came out looking like a sweet 90's beach house bedspread.
Here is a great little tutorial from Oh Happy Day
to get you started. Head over there for full instructions!

A few tricks:
Tone the canvas with a color of some sort
Lightly sketch what you are thinking

Of course these are just to tie you over til you can afford the real deal.
So many greats out there, that I cant wait to welcome in my home one day...

e-design | nursery for baby girl

A dear friend of mine is expecting her first baby girl in just a few months!
I was thrilled when she asked me for some rug and lighting options for the nursery.
She already has her eye on this beautiful bedding from Serena and Lily
which is so fun to work with and can be taken so many fun directions.

Option one: A little bit more modern, layered rugs, fun lighting, and
of course a Lulie Wallace original!

Option two: a bit more glam.  Peacock mirror, my favorite Anthro lighting,
muted leopard rug and fun print for window treatments!

Option three: includes some fun DIY options!  A Dorothy Draper dresser from an Ikea hack.
A pelmet box for the window with sweet monogram, and some sort of vintage framed prints.
And, of course my favorite Robert Abbey lamp for a little splurge!

The great thing about these options is pieces can be mixed from each.
I know that no matter what baby girl is going to have a sweet space to call her own!
And Jordan and David will make the most fabulous parents!

shine on

I love accessories and jewelry.
Lately I have been captured by all of the creative beautiful ways to display your jewelry.
Styling both your home and self with jewelry, I love it!
And, it is so much easier to see what you have, and put it to good use.
So, here's to collecting teacups, vases, busts and bowls.
I will be sure to report back!

Life's a picinic

A picnic with my sweet husband and our pup,
sounds like just what the doctor ordered this weekend.
We have some great picnic spots in Charleston.

I am to live here. Wow!

a hodge podge

If I had this color scheme somewhere in my house I would use this fabric,

here, and in other great colors too!
I have loved this image of a white and grey kitchen for months now!
And that rug pretty much makes it perfection, I think I would sleep in there.
Last week I spotted this rug from Anthropologie that is even more vibrant in person
(and on sale)! Now, I am really dreaming of a white kitchen!
here and here
Speaking of Anthropologie, there spring stuff is amazing!
I woke up this morning to check the status of an order I placed this week to see: Out for Delivery!
Always fun to see.  This is what will be showing up:

top and skirt
and on my birthday list...

top and top
...and thanks to Anna from A Newfound Treasure's recommendation
I will be sporting all outfits with this gem found on Ebay!

I have been in need of some new running shoes.
So, of course I needed some neon to brighten things up a bit!
I picked this bad boys up at the Nike outlet for, $44!

I searched high and low for the new Domino mag, it is in high demand!
I finally found one copy at Target! Have you found one yet?
Not that I should be surprised, but it is seriously good.
Their feature is "quick fixes" 334 best makeover and easy decorating tips.
There are some awesome budget friendly ideas...

"wide legs for the win!"

So, I spent a couple short hours last week on a little shopping trip
with my dear friend Kristin, yes the Kristin from omGee!
Let me tell you, this girl has some serious style.
She does a great job putting outfits together when shopping,
Unlike me, I just buy what I like then have a closet full of
cute things that don't always work together.
Anyways, we were in a cute little boutique, Teal
when I spotted some wide leg dark blue pants.
They are super cute, but it was definitely
Kristin's presence that convinced me to pull them off the rack!

My husband has an extreme dislike for skinnies,
probably the only thing he has a real opinion on!
After trying on and purchasing my new blue pants,
I think I am on my way to switching over
(although at times skinnies are just necessary)!
They give you mile long legs and look super classy!

Here is a quick roundup of a few of my favorites!

poppy pants //kelly green //blue
geometric pants //striped pants //yellow linen

What do you think about the wide leg?
Are you ready to make the switch?

do you juju?

1-2-3-4-5
I am still not over this look, I love it all ways!
I am dying for one in our home, probably in the guest room.
I have found a couple of DIY's
(considering the real deals cost a few hundred).
I haven't tried them yet, but it is on my to do list!

tickled pink

I don't know what it is about this color lately that has grabbed me!
I am so drawn to it, part of it might be my love for white jeans.
But, when it comes to wearing color it is hands down one of my favorites.
It is so fresh and lively, feminine and fun.

pretty in pastel

Lately, I have been more of a neutral girl.
Which makes adding pastels into my closet a breeze!
I love them, I love all of the options,
and that they are subtle yet fashionable.
Actually, I really can't get enough!

Happy, happy Friday, friends!
I am looking forward to a quiet weekend home,

give me that space

So, have I mentioned that sometimes I catch myself dreaming of entry ways?
Sad, but true. Let me remind you I love our home!
But, the day that I can style an entry way will be a fine one!

I have loved the fabulous Naomi of Design Manifest and her amazing home
ever since it was featured on design sponge.  But, now that it popped up
again in this months Adore magazine, I fell in love all over again.

Sometimes, I see images that I love and just decide to break it down.
You know, to see what it would really take to create it.
Well, thankful Naomi designs on a budget, and shares her secrets!

I feel like this could be such great inspiration for any space!
I am not going to lie, since I haven't gotten to far into my
living room redesign, the thought has crossed my mind to use
this as a bit of inspiration! But, really it could be a starting place for any room!

Have you seen her whole space? Check it out its really amazing!

time for white

Now that Easter weekend has come and gone it means spring and summer wardrobe is in full swing.
I love a good pair of white jeans, skinny, wide leg, ankle or flared.
I would love to say that I am bold and I wear white all year around.
However, my grandmama's voice is still loud and clear in my head, I just can't do it.
(Yes, she also told a cop who pulled over for running a stop sign,
"Officer, I have been driving in the town longer than you have been alive.
Get back in your car and go do something constructive for this town."
Needless to say, you did as she said (heck, still do!).

Now that the coast is clear and Easter has been celebrated,
I am going to be wearing out my white pants!

Here's to you summertime!

spring flowers

Have I mentioned how much I love Spring?
When I lived downtown I used to stroll just so I could take in the smell of jasmine
that covers the streets in the Lowcountry.
It symbolizes a fresh start, change and celebration,
Easter, my anniversary and birthday are in the Spring.

I have been eyeing some spring florals to add to my wardrobe lately,

...and maybe some floral in my home

Lulie Wallace original, the top of my wishlist!
floral accent chair
accent pillow
or maybe just a great big vase of peonies...

Don't florals just scream spring!
I have a feeling they are about to invade my life, we will see how husband feels about this!

p.s. I will be taking a break from blogging tomorrow for Good Friday.
Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
