a little extra love

I have slowly been making my way through
my fabulous new coffee table book (that came yesterday!):

good bones, great pieces

I am soaking it all in, and have a feeling it could inspire a few posts.
I knew it was going to be loved when it touched on one of my favorites in the first chapter:
love seats and even more, love seats in a bedroom!

Need some inspiration? Here are a few favorite rooms that I have been eyeing...

memorial day (read: birthday weekend!)

Well, I took my first weekday off of blogging yesterday.
After reading all of the fabulous
"Things I am Afraid to Tell You" I just felt
like I need to put things in perspective again.
More on that and my edition of "Things I am Afraid to Tell You" later.

Until then, it is memorial day time! Which for me means birthday weekend!
There will be lots of celebrating this weekend, and lots of relaxing!
Oh man, WE.CANT.WAIT!

the best day of my life

Today is day to celebrate indeed,
my husband and I celebrate our first anniversary.
Oh, what a year it has been.
I can honestly say the best year of my life.
I love him more than I ever thought possible,
and am so blessed by the way he loves me and leads me.
Today, and everyday, I am a grateful and blessed bride.

I figured a little recap of that fantastic day was only necessary!
I have tried to keep it very narrowed down, only enough to create the feel of the day.

We were married on Edisto Island, a small barrier island off the coast of Charleston.
The ceremony was in an old church built in the 1700's.
My brother and the adult gospel choir did all the music.
(My oldest brother singing me down the aisle to "Come Thou Fount" may be my favorite memory.)
The reception was at Brookland Plantation, on the water, and complete with,
barbecue, shrimp and grits, crab cakes, boiled peanuts and coconut cake!

a few moments with my parents before, my dad had never seen my dress (image 2 here)

Oh, heavenly day!

Our coconut cake from Village Bakery is thawing on the counter as we speak...

chambray four ways

A little chambray for your Friday!
I picked up a great chambray blouse at the J. Crew outlet
a couple months ago.  And it is one of the most comfortable
items in my closet.  Although, sometimes I stand in
front of my closet lost as to how to style it.
So here is some "See it, Wear it" inspiration!

home tour: sarah swanson

Sarah has quickly become one of my favorite blogs to follow.
I found her through her fabulous $10 art
I have had my eye on them for a while, and then I won one from Danielle Oakey!
But, that is just a start to the collection I plan on building!

They are a must, they add the perfect dimension and pop to any space.

But, that is not her only talent.  She also, like me, offers e-design.
And let me just say her designs are beautiful!
As is her home, take a gander, you will go nuts like I did, I am sure--

Ahhh, so refreshing isn't it?!
Make her a daily read, you won't regret it!

a weekend getaway

We all know that I have a deep down, intense love for the Lowcountry.
I have seen a lot of beautiful places, but the place I am blessed to live is really among the top.

Next week we celebrate one year of marriage! (more on that then!)
We decided to getaway and celebrate a little early.
We wanted to explore some other areas of the Lowcountry.
We headed to historic Beaufort, South Carolina.

I would highly recommend the trip to anyone!
The restaurants are amazing (and well decorated), scenery is beautiful,
hotel was fabulous and lots of great galleries and shops!

City Loft Hotel is an old motel that they have refurbished into a fabulous boutique hotel!
Great decor, comfortable beds and excellent service.
It is located right in the heart of downtown.
They even have a flat screen in the bathroom (the hubby's favorite feature!).
I would highly recommend it to anyone heading that way, we will be going back for sure.
For more info on the hotel, check it out here: City Loft Hotel.
I really can't say enough great things about it!

We enjoyed a lot of walking around (and perfected the timed pictures!)

I fell in love with the awesome rugs at I. Pinckney Simon Gallery
I will be back one day and make one mine (got my eye on this one)!

On Saturday the we headed to a very relaxing and beautiful day at the pool.
It is about a 10 minute drive, to a great pool that the hotel has teamed
up with to provide for their guests!

ha, I don't think I could see very well!

We had a great lunch at Wren which was a fabulous spot...

Enjoyed some bike riding to check out the beautiful historic district.
We especially wanted to find the Tidalholm
It is where the movies The Big Chill and Great Santini were filmed.
When I was about 7 years old my parents gave me a fabulous Christmas gift
of a doll house replica of this historic home.
It is huge, probably about 6 ft long by 4ft high.  It was fun to see the real home!

Another great meal at Saltus, the shrimp were to die for and the ambiance was perfect!

It was a fabulous weekend exploring what may be one of my new favorite small coastal towns!
I would recommend the trip to anyone, locals and non.
And, it would be a fabulous boat trip for my Charleston and Edisto friends!
