Guide: Summer Wedding Attire

I feel like wedding season is quickly becoming year around!

Ok, so I am just going to go ahead and say I am ready for fall. 

I am trying my hardest not to wish for the next season that I miss this one

both in our lives as well as summer in general! 

What doesn't help is dreaming of all the cute 

layerings and boots that come with fall!

lovin' lately

1. Anthro blouse: feminine, classic and funky all at the same time. 

I see a future multi-season styling post with this one! 

2. Abstract Figure Art: Kate Long Stevenson kills it every time. 

I love her use of color, and well pretty much everything about it! And she is a Charleston girl. 

3. Mint Lemon Water: I have been downing this lately.  With fresh mint from my herd garden, 

it makes for the most refreshing treat, that takes my mind off of more caffeine! 

4. Fedora: I snagged this cute hat up for our beach trip later this month. 

I am anti sun on my face these days, and sometimes my big straw hat is just too much. 

5. Zara studded sandals: these little suckers went on sale, and I thought on them for a couple hours. 

Then, they were sold out. So sad. You snooze you lose applies here. Maybe someone will return!?

6. Fig Leaf Pillow: I still have plans for this.  Possibly our master, parents guest room re-do. Just wait.

7. Orchid: Ok have any of y'all gone fake yet?  I cannot for the life of me get my orchids to re-bloom. 

I am thinking it doesn't get enough indirect light where I have it. What is the best fake to buy?

This hurts, I am pretty anti fake plants. 

8. Paint: I need this "white mint" paint somewhere in my home.  I think the painting job

of living room and kitchen, just moved to include the master as well! 

9. Sunglasses: I spotted these over at Things That Sparkle yesterday. They are pretty much perfect! 

10. Jcrew Animal Print shorts: Seriously? How cute are these?! And they are on sale! 

Get them while you can. I snagged mine during the additional 30% off. I had to order a size up because they didn't have my size, but they would be worth a trip to the alterations. 

11. Ikea Bowl: I have a seriously long list for my next trip to Ikea. This bowl is among the top. So fab!

I am grabbing breakfast on the go.

And, getting to work as I finish up these last

two weeks before the Edisto Governor's Cup event.

But, I am over visiting one of my absolute favorites,

project pillow complete

I am pretty shocked. 

Despite my crazy work schedule, 

I forced myself to make some time 

to complete my pillow project! 

I am so impressed with how much it freshens up the room. 

Next, we I will give the walls a fresh coat of warm, light gray paint. 

And, hopefully a new couch! 

I love the simple look of the ivory with ribbon trim. 

And, it was so easy to do. 

With iron on fusing, and a square piece of paper as your guide, 

iron the ribbon to what will be the front of your pillow.

Leave about an extra inch and a half at all ends of ribbon free.

Cut your ends the the correct length then cover 

the ends in nail polish to prevent fraying.

Fold under the ends to make your corners and secure.

Then sew the front and back of your pillow together. 

I tacked my corners down with black thread to reinforce. 

As for the spotted pillow, I wanted a cream background. 

In between the tan and white you see floating around. 

So, I picked up some Rit dye (my fave) 

And went to work adding it slowly in a 

sink full of hot water til I got the shade I desired!

Voila!

seeing stripes

I am pretty sure J. Crew is the king of stripes!

And, I am positive that I can't say no to stripes!

I snagged a few items when they added recent things to sale last week. 

I love how stripes can be worn for any occasion.

a guest bed addition

I spotted these beauties floating around Pinterest. 

I have been waiting on the perfect pillow to go on our guest bed, 

You know, something that pulls in all the right colors?

Well, I went to work.  This was my first go at it.
I am not totally happy with it, but it made it on there nonetheless.

Yes, Hank needed to be front and center, therefore blocking most of the pillow.
He was too cute to move.

This spurred some new ideas for some more abstract pillows.
