I have a friend, a really good friend who knows how to love me well and challenge me. Two weeks ago she emailed me and said that we should text each other once a day one thing that we are thankful for. I want everyone to try this! It has been such a great practice. I have so much to be thankful for. God is good and He continues to bless, if I don't slow down I take them for granted and totally miss it. So, in honor of my new practice that I am trying to make a habit I thought I would share a few, big and small, from the last two weeks...

everlane
I am a t-shirt: hoarder, snob, addict, whatever you want to call it! I love a good t-shirt. Working from home means that I spend most days in either my gym clothes hoping that it will convince me to actually go, or a t-shirt and boyfriend jeans/cutoffs. I really wish I was one of those who felt the need to get up and get ready as though I was not going to be home all day, I remember Erika talking about that in her Glitter Guide feature. But, it just is not me. Maybe one day, I am not giving up, but, until then I will make sure to let y'all know when I find an excellent t-shirt.
And these are excellent. Everlane has created a t-shirt with a price point is fabulous by cutting out the middle man, and the quality is that of a $100 t-shirt. Personally, I am loving the Ryan collection! I think it works on its own, under a blazer or cardigan, with a cute scarf and skinnies. Lots of options, and they have men's!

living room updates (via instagram)
Well after months of talking about it (here, here, AND here!) we finally have a gray living room and kitchen! We went with Sherwin Williams worldly gray and amazing gray (one shade apart). Let me just tell you how fabulous it looks. The space no longer has a yellow cloud over it!
After much rug debate we decided to go with a cow hide. Which is funny, because I thought I was over the look. But, here is my reasoning: we have a smaller living room and we hope to be moving soon. So, I didn't want to spend a pretty penny on a rug for this room that would not work for our next living room. Overstock had a great deal on a cowhide rug that would go perfectly in an entryway, nursery, office or dining room of our next home. So, she is on her way to us. Until she gets here, only instagram pics!
My sweet Hubby is building us a new parsons sofa table:
I'll paint it a high gloss eggplant color
Can't wait to take real camera pictures when the rug gets here!

three ways: boyfriend jeans
I have pretty much lived in my new jeans that I grabbed from Gap a couple weeks ago.
They are super comfortable and go with so much.
Beware, they do stretch out a lot, I am waiting for a sale
so I can get a second pair a little bit smaller.
After traveling last week I realized that they are a perfect companion!
Great for the travel day, but also perfect for the rest of your actual time away.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday and weekend.
When I see yall on monday, I wil have a freshly painted living room.
...and the fed ex man just showed up with my marbleized paper
for my next DIY project thanks to Little Green Notebook!

studded
I love items that add just a little bit of edge.
Things that catch people's eye and start a conversation.
Some studding does just this.
It doesn't take much, but I love the look!
...and for my next DIY project,
check out this fabulous studded tray from Fabulous K

Head over for full instructions.
I am thinking it would be cute on a black orchid pot, picture frame, mirror, blazer.
So many options, I better get busy.
And, now that I want to stud everything it is perfect timing to remind myself,
"Less is more!"

the perfect leather jacket
I have had my eye out for the perfect leather jacket. I haven't found it yet, but I am bound and determined! In order to stay inspired on the search I thought I would round up some inspiration. This fall look is so fabulous, I feel like it is a perfect addition for my style. I love the look of chic/classic with a little bit of edge.
So far I have found one of the best selections to buy at, Shop Bop!
Head on over and start on your search...

breather....
After waking up to massive computer issues yesterday (stupid mac os x mountain lion).
And, then not feeling so well today, I am going to take today as a breather.
But, don't you worry, head on over to Glitter Guide and check out
my girl Chassity. She is sharing bits of her home and it is oh so fabulous!
Seriously, I love her taste; clothes, art (here), decor...it is right up my alley.
...so very grateful this morning for my hubby who fixed my computer.
I'll be back in business tomorrow...

guest post: Natalie Merrillyn
I am thrilled that one of my absolute favorites has taken the time to share with yall today.
Natalie has such great style and just does her thing, it is so refreshing!
She has had the opportunity to spend some time on both the East and West coast this summer.
So here are a few of her tips on summer dressing in different climates!
Hello LowLife Couture readers! I'm Natalie from Natalie Merrillyn and I'm thrilled to be guest posting for Becca today.
Today I'll be sharing some of my summer wardrobe staples and some of the pieces that have gotten me through some unpredictable summer weather! I'm a huge fan of classic pieces like blazers and silk blouses -- they really open up your wardrobe and allow you to mix and match so many different outfits.
On most days you can catch me wearing my Michael Kors watch, Karen Walker sunglasses, and my favorite J.Crew bracelet.
FOR HOT DAYS | I love layering, so I'm always looking for pieces that allow me to layer. Vests are a perfect way to layer during the summer! {Old Navy vest, J.Crew tank, Old Navy maxi}
FOR RAINY DAYS | Part of our summer has been spent in Seattle, so rain is inevitable. I rely on my trench with a hood and like wearing a pop of color on gloomy days. {J.Crew trench, DVF blouse, J Brand jeans}
FOR GOING OUT | Leather shorts are a favorite, with a pretty printed tank and some statement jewelry. {Tibi tank, H&M leather shorts, HRH Collection necklace}
FOR DATE NIGHT | I love a romper or light-weight dress with a blazer over top! {H&M blazer, Urban Outfitters romper, J.Crew necklace}
A huge thank you to Becca for having me today! And please be sure to stop by Natalie Merrillyn for more inspiration!
xoxo

summer style into fall...
My style these days tends to be some what casual.
I go for comfort and then have fun with accessories.
I picked up a couple of these buffalo check shirts from J. Crew in the past,
and find that they are easily styled in all seasons.

summer: Blouse // Necklace // Shorts // Purse // Loafers
fall: Blouse // Earrings // Scarf // Boyfriend Jeans // Booties
I just got my hands on a pair of boyfriend jeans, and feel like I have been missing
out on so much. Why did I wait so long?! They are wonderfully comfortable while still stylish.
Pretty much perfection in my eyes.
...add a fur vest or fun blazer and the fall look can take us Southerners into Winter!
Happy Friday, friends! Hope it is a good one.

hits the spot! (a mini home tour)
I am still working on that home tour that I promised myself would happen in 2012.
Until then I thought I would share some of my favorite spots around my home that are finished.
It is a process to turn a bachelor pad into a home!
I finally snagged the porcelain pineapple from Furbish Studio!
I love it and it goes perfect with my elephant from Kenya and Gallery Wall art.
My snakeskin tray that was a Christmas gift, succulent and one of many coffee table books.
Trays are great because they allow you to have a vignette on your table that can easily be moved!
This is the room that is about to get a warm gray paint job! I snagged my greyhound at Homegoods and love him. I always thought I would give him a glossy white coat of paint,
but as of now I like him as is. A blanket basket is also a must!
Our master bedroom paint color choice was in a moment of having to choose now!
It is a little bright for my taste but you do what you have to do one week from your wedding date.
Unfortunately, Hank is covering up my version of the famous leopard lumbar pillow.
The sunburst mirror is a DIY from Danielle Oakey!
Another corner of a bookcase that is in our bedroom. I whipped up the abstract,
and love it with my Egyptian statue and moss ball.
Again the room that will soon be gray! Eee, can't wait!
The chair is one of a pair and a surprise gift from my Hubby, the painting is a Van Gogh replica
from my sweet brother. Then of course my favorite orchid that I can never keep alive
... just a few peeks...
Hope you have a great Tuesday, friends!

catching my eye...
Well, I am back, and eager to get things in order.
Since our beach vacation is over, and football season is looming,
I am dreaming of fall. And, something about being gone for two weeks makes the idea of an organized home, home cooked meals and some fresh additions to the closet so appealing!
Here are a few images that have been catching my eye...

e-design: nursery
I love helping people create just the space they were wanting!
What a fun part of my job.
Over the last couple weeks I have been busy working on this
e-design for a client expecting her first baby girl!
We have a couple tweaks to do, but all in all she is just about ready to get to work!
I love the campaign meets Dorothy Draper changing table,
DIY painted baskets, black ribbon trim roman shade, and
per mama's request Degas ballet sketches as a gallery wall!
I don't source e-designs on the blog, to protect the services that my client has paid for.
If you are interested in creating a space that you have been dreaming up email me at
